We are currently looking for an Application Manager – Solution Design Cargo Handling IT (m/f) to join the IT team at Lufthansa Cargo in Frankfurt at the earliest possible date.

As an Application Manager (m/f) for Lufthansa Cargo you are responsible for:

  • The solution design of Cargo Handling & Customs IT solutions taking into account IT strategy and IT architecture as well as operational requirements and cost effectiveness. The responsibility of the team includes all applications supporting the LCAG core process Cargo Handling both in the hubs and at the worldwide stations
  • You are the first technical contact for IT project managers (m/f) and other Application Managers (m/f). The active support of the solution development from conception to implementation through third party providers is part of your role
  • Design and define IT solutions in collaboration with the application managers (m/f) in your team and other internal stakeholders, especially Enterprise IT and IT suppliers. Always follow the efficient, high-performance and safe operation as a guideline and claim responsibility for the technical implementation of the solution, also with regard to the compatibility of the requirements with existing systems and guidelines
  • Together with other team members, team- and division management and in coordination with central departments, you define and document the technological roadmap for Cargo Handling IT. The focus is on software, but also includes mobile devices to support physical freight processes. You are or will be an expert in the world of cargo handling IT and the relevant supplier market and actively pursue the technological developments in the industry and in adjacent areas
  • Together with the Lufthansa Cargo Digilab you are testing new technologies for meaningful implementation for LCAG in Cargo Handling and together with the Application Managers (m/f) define possible UseCases

Your profile

  • University degree in Business Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration with Informatics focus (bachelor required, master desirable)
  • Specific knowledge especially in the area of IT are of advantage
  • Professional experience, desirably in logistic business processes and in methods and techniques of IT application operations
  • Experience in agile project methods
  • Experience in working on large-scale projects
  • Fluent in English and German
  • Work experience in logistics industry desirable
  • Ability to think and act in a comprehensive and result-driven manner
  • Convincing and assertive appearance
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Dedication for both, working in teams as well as supervising colleagues
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and make decisions
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking
